INTRODUCTION     Your achievement of the Board of Studies outcomes in Stage 5 Science will be determined by a series of assessments.  These will contribute to a School mark which will be forwarded to the Board of Studies and will appear on your Record of Student Achievement.  

That mark will be determined from your marks and grades for the following assessment tasks:




The due dates for the research task proposal and final report are not negotiable.  If it is not submitted by the due date and time,  it will not be accepted for marking (although it must still be submitted to avoid an “N” grading).  



RESEARCH TASK

The research task is a mandatory (compulsory) requirement by the Board of Studies.  It is to be submitted in two stages - the proposal and the final report.


1.  THE PROPOSAL

This is due by 5.00 pm on the Friday 7 March 2014.   (Term 1, Week 6)

It is worth 10% of your total assessment.

2.   THE FINAL REPORT

This is due by 5.00 pm on Friday 2 May 2014.  (Term 2, Week 2)

It is worth 20% of your total assessment.

Both stages are to be prepared as a Word document and submitted as a hard copy or sent by email to your Science teacher.

PRACTICAL TEST

The practical test will evaluate your achievement of the practical outcomes for Stage 5 Science.  You will be given a question at the start of a double period and then carry out a first-hand investigation during that period that will attempt to answer that question.
